eight layer stencil

not at all sure if I should be sharing this piece just yet. anyhow, this is what I've been starting to cut at. the background isn't the one I plan to use in the finished piece either. just some neat stuff laying around on my hdd. actual background will be yet another stencil, two layer though. thank god for that(!).

I've been discussing whether or not I'll get bleeds on this piece. I'm quite positive I wont since these will be made indoors with plenty of time on my hands. for safe sake I'll be using spray adhesive and if required seal each stencil with previous color. looking forward.

anyhow, layers is as said all done -ready to be cut. I lack cans though. Oh, and on a sidenote, yes that's an Okapi. Closest relative is the giraffe, believe it or not.

texture taken from deviantart, created by css0101.

papercraft

what have I done so far today? made another stencil that I added to a painting of mine. result? well, not to good to be honest. we'll see if I dare adding it here.

Beside that then? folded some Cubeecraft templates done by Marshall Alexander. they where in grayscale though since I didn't have access to a colorprinter at that time. they still ended up looking so awesome I didn't need to take an actual photo of them, just flip it and reverse it. you'll get the picture. try them.

on a side-note, comic-a-day is down for the moment due to my funny side is lacking. true story, ask my friends(!).

clown

made a paperstencil, played a tad with acrylic and rounded of with micron pen and Sepia ink. done an installation with the same theme where the clown in his empty fist holds a papier-mâché balloon in a thread. might get round to adding that piece later this week.

comic

new addition to the site. comics in the sidebar. click for album. not gonna pretend it's gonna be a every day comic. and for now, it's mostly on my friends. perhaps it's not even that funny(!). partly not my own graphics either. some borrowed (character design) some photoshop...

will in the near future do my own vector graphic, I think.

currently under construction

it's exam week and I'm totally stressed out. though current project is what you can see above. low resolution version, picture is taken with my mobile phone. you take what you can get when it's only in sketch phase... as for the final version? god hope I've come around a high-res picture by then(!)

posters

did some tutorials on posters today, brought about some glimps of my life into them. it included coffee invitations to specific people as the one below. can't deside about gray or orange turntable though. bothers, bothers.

edit: poster been updated to an even bigger size and you wont even notice the difference. alot bigger I might add. the actual file is twice as big in dimensions but only 1 Mb in size compared to the 3.2 Mb file blogger turned it to. awesome. anyhow I know the changes is there, so without further ado click on the above poster. now.

and futhermore such as our coffee breaks, between friends, at my place (13c). now don't vomit on the colors, the thumb pieces was meant to hurt your eyes... alot.

san francisco 1906

omg. I'm breaking my usual only my own material concept. photo taken in 1906. this is wicked. get me a camera, some sense and whatever I'm forgetting. copyright by Geo R Lawrence. should know for how long a copyright on photos are valid but I don't... heh.

edit: copyright is due since long so it is ok to publish. and by the way; thank you blogspot for compressing files. not. google "Geo R Lawrence San Francisco" for a 7000 pixles wide photo of this beauty. or simply click here.

not yet finished

can't decide what piece to go with. the one to the right isn't final when it comes to quote but beside that it's a tiny tad cleaner.

well anyhow. for now, until I can make up my mind... I'll just settle for an unfinished piece.

it's a wrap
and fast it went. yay. alot happier with this piece. quote from Theodore Roosevelt.

my ego will crush toes

well this one ended up in two versions. one is the above creation (big size on click) and the second one isn't that much of a difference to be honest. just a green dog instead of the current gray. the comment is a bit of a tribute to a friend, it's something he mentioned some days back. but the piece had another person in mind when I did it. yes, it's a girl and she's cute. I suck but well... I promise right now, next piece wont be so sugercoated.

texture, as per usual, from lostandtaken grungy christmas wrapping paper textures. got to expand my area of search but they are so good in my opinion.

on the side; should it be "if you can always be yourself" or "if you always can be yourself"? nevermind for now, someone more fluent then me can correct my bad english.

paper doll

right. my ambitions was to make a IKEA manual on how to dress a paper bag character. was about to copy their concept right off the bat -but it ended up like this instead. I might do the IKEA manual another day, I hope.

now why a IKEA manual? 'cause however much you feel like bashing on their furnitures they stil do make some kickass manuals. simple and clever, just give it a thought and you'll see. they work in over 36 countries around the globe, nationality doesn't matter since reading skills is unrelevant in means of understanding the assembly instructions. one picture says more then a thousand words, a little lame statement but oh so true.

dressed character is featured some post below.

pattern

the world of symmetrical art.

as some people may have noticed my logo use M.C. Eschers flower pattern from 1967. and for everyone else, now you know. much as islam artist, among others, are know for their mathematically-inspired patterns so is Escher. I'm an engineer at heart so beauty and science turns my gear. and credit should go to where credit belongs ofcourse.

sometimes soon I may add some of my own patterns and texture but for now I'm quite happy with borrowing others awesome art. the whole point with my work, and what triggers me with it, has been to use extravagant texture for simple sketches. and the result is in my own opinion quite tasty (be the first to disagree, criticism is always welcome).
